Appearance
Born 1 Bloom in the Age of Man, 1797, Kyanite was not the oldest, but one of only two legitimate sons of his late father Dravite Blackwater, grandson of Cyprine Blackwater and Lazuli Morningsong. Like his father, Kyanite has sandy blonde hair and kind, grey eyes. His smile is disarming, lighting up his whole face whenever he grins. Some say he inherited such features from his father, though he has also been told he has the hardness of his mother, Belkaia Windborne. His skin is a mix of warm, bronze tones which darken somewhat during the hot season, only to lighten again come Frost.
Kyanite has a number of distinguishing marks, the most recognizable of these being the tribal tattooing on his chest, echoing that of late father. The line-work symbolized a the grasslands themselves, the Water Clan and the tribe's heritage. It is their link to Karamea, however, that stands pride and center at the heart of these markings, representing their faith in the titan and mother of Noar. These tattoos serve another purpose, hiding a scar the man suffered after being kicked from and trampled by a horse as a teen. He broke many of his ribs, but managed to recover from these injuries, but not without the scars to prove it.
Though he is not considered short for an Ontari male, he is quite compact compared to men of other races. His muscles are tight and his body lean and athletic, perfectly adapted to the land he calls home. He is fast, agile and quick, able to keep up with the best of his peers. Of mind, he is just as sharp, ever-vigilant and known to his tribe as an adept strategist. Kyanite is brave, sometimes to his detriment, curious and rather strong-willed. He has a lust for life and is known by those closest to him to be spirited, adventurous, and intrigued by all life has to offer. He is tireless, fearless, and loving.
History
Born to Belkaia Windborne and Dravite Blackwater, Kyanite spent his youth growing up in the Blackwater Tribe. He was the spitting image of the young Onkarl, destined to follow in his father’s footsteps and take up the title of tribe leader once his father passed. This was not to be, however, as Kyanite’s father was killed in his sleep by what was thought to be a member of a rival tribe, leaving the Blackwater Tribe in turmoil.
At eleven years old, five years older than his younger brother, Jaeger (yay-ger, meaning Hunter), and three years younger than his half brother, Löwe (lu-vuh, meaning Lion), leadership fell to Fara (meaning Joy), the mother of Dravite’s illegitimate son, Löwe. When Löwe came of age, the title of Onkarl was bestowed to him and the Blackwater Tribe has thrived under his guidance and protection ever since.
During the takeover, Fara had Belkaia and Dravite’s other two wives killed. She refused to share power and though she accepted Dravite’s children as her own, there was to be no competition for her son, Löwe, who she believed to be the rightful heir of the Blackwater Tribe.
Fara did not marry again but negotiated many successful couplings for the children in her care, including her own children, a set of twins the same age as Kyanite, named Wulf (meaning Wolf) and Duv (meaning Dove). Löwe was married to the first born daughter, Oba (meaning River), Bearheel, of the Earth Clan, solidifying his claim to both the Blackwater and Bearheel Tribe after Oba’s father passed with no sons to succeed him.
Duv was married into the Stormsing Tribe, of the Air Clan, to a young man named Khide Stormsing. The tribe was later absorbed by the Blackwater Tribe after Löwe defeated their Onkarl in combat. Duv’s twin brother, Wulf, was killed in the fighting that broke out following the death of the Stormsing leader, leaving his wife, Fawn Thornside to raise their two children, Ashla (meaning Meadow) and Maeve (meaning Warrior).

Kyanite is not a particularly ambitious man, though he does have some designs to lead the Blackwater Tribe and, remains to this day, vexed by the treatment of his half-brother, Löwe, and the man's mother, Fara. It is his blood right to rule as Onkarl of the Blackwater Tribe, one his heart's desire still whispers of from time to time. For now, he is content to follow, observe, learn, and bide his time. If anything, Kyanite understands that power means nothing without loyalty.
Driven by simple pleasures, Kyanite finds joy in a great many things. He is a keen rider and animal handler, and has taken a strong interest in training difficult horses. Deep down, they are his greatest pleasure and deepest fear, having suffered significant injuries on account of such animals as a teen. Kyanite is a social being, but also enjoys moments of peace and reflection, often stealing a few moments each day to spend by himself.

Being a rather tactile young man, Kyanite has always preferred working with his hands. He never really took an interest in magic, which perhaps, is why it was so natural that he found himself attuned to the Anti-Magic.

Background: Born 23 Harvest 2 Age of Kings, Ari is the only daughter of Karth Sunmare, leader of the Sunmare Tribe. As a member of the Sunmare Tribe, her close ties to the Fire Clan make the woman an interesting match for Kyanite, one chosen for him by his older brother and leader of the Blackwater Tribe, Löwe. Of course, being the first wife, Ari is proud of her station in life and works hard to temper her husband's fiery spirit.
Bound on the first day of Bloom, Ari was not always destined to marry, Kyanite, her first choice being Kyanite's younger brother, Jaeger. As her closest childhood friend, her parents always assumed Ari and Jaeger would be promised to one another, but Löwe, seeing an opportunity to cause disharmony between the brothers, arranged a marriage that left all three of them out of sorts. Ari doesn't often show care in public, though she is a very attentive and gentle woman in private.

Background: Born 88 Blaze 2 Age of Kings, Jaeger is five years younger than his brother Kyanite. What makes them closer than most of the Blackwater Tribe is the fact that they called the same woman mother. Though their mother, Belkaia, was of the Windborne Tribe, the pair chose to remain in their father's tribe following his untimely death. Whether or not this decision has served them well is yet to be determined.
Jaeger is considerate, gentle, quiet, and reserved. He is unattached and, though tolerated by Fara, is not held in very high regard by the woman, who has made little effort in securing him a match. Adept with the bow, Jaeger doesn't care for close up and personal confrontation, preferring to settle disputes at a distance, where his skill with a ranged weapon shines. He is less animated than his brother and takes a lot longer to warm to people, able to count his close friends on one hand.
