Stats
There are six stats to distribute points between for your character on Omens in Ashes.
They are as follows:
The Body Stat is a measure of your character's physical strength. It is the key modifier for any melee attacks made by your character. The higher your character's Body Stat, the more melee damage they will deal in battle. In roleplay it can also be used to determine your character's ability to lift objects and overpower a target. The Body Stat also determines how much weight your character can carry.
The Speed Stat is a measure of your character's dexterity. It is the key modifier for any ranged attacks made by your character. The higher your character's Speed Stat, the more ranged damage they will deal in battle. In roleplay it can also be used to determine your character's agility, stealth and nimbleness. This may include flanking and back-stab moves. The Speed Stat also determines how much gold your character can steal in moderated stories.
A rather self explanatory stat. The Fortitude Stat determines how much damage your character can withstand in battle before they are knocked unconscious. The higher your character's Fortitude Stat, the higher their health is. In roleplay it can also be used to determine your character's stamina, immunity and physique. Fortitude does not determine your character's ability to defend themselves.
The Mind Stat is a measure of your character's intelligence and charisma. It is the key modifier for any negotiation attempts made by your character when dealing with Non Playable Character (NPCs). The higher your character's Mind Stat, the more likely they are to gain information, make friends, impress people, and demonstrate their ability to lead. In roleplay it can also be used to determine your character's ability to craft things.
The Casting Stat is a measure of your character's magic ability. It is the key modifier for any spell attacks made by your character. The higher your character's Casting Stat, the more magical damage they will deal in battle. In roleplay it can also be used to determine your character's ability to restore Esen through meditation.
The Esen Stat is a measure of your character's mana pool. It determines how many spells your character can cast during battle. The higher your character's Esen Stat, the more spells they can cast in and outside of battle. In roleplay it can be used to determine your character's ability to detect or sense magic, including Wild Esen.
Every character (including NPCs) starts with 5 Stat Points in each Stat. These are fixed points and can not be redistributed. On top of this, you are able to assign 40 Stat Points as you see fit plus your 10 Race Perk Points. The OIA Team recommends distributing these between at least one weapon skill (Body or Speed) or both arcane skills (Casting and Esen).
The Mind Stat tends to be the most neglected, however, this Stat will come in handy during World Events. Of course, how you spend your points is completely up to you. If you want to put all 40 points in Body, for example, your character might get lucky with damage rolls, but they won't be able to withstand many hits in return.
Before assigning 40 Stat Points:
After assigning 40 Stat Points:
The Race Perk is the added (+10) (+15 if Human or Divine) (+5 if Lesser Race) depending on the Race you choose to play.
It is possible to earn up to 6 Stat Points a year (7 if your character is featured). 4 of these Stat Points are earned through remaining active on the site. To be considered active, you must complete at least 3 threads per season (1 thread per month). The other 2 Stat Points are earned through taking part in the World Events run every six months.
Moderators and Storytellers can earn 1 stat point for conducting a World Event. If they are unable to lead the event, they must sign up to participate in it to receive the Stat Point.
