Oliver Hartwick's Character Sheet
Name: Oliver Hartwick
Age: 24
Race: Human
Birthday: 61st Day of Blaze
Born: M1796
Height: 6'1
Weight: 177lbs
Hair: Short brown with hints of blonde in the light.
Eyes Narrow, ocean blue eyes often bright with wonder and excitement. It is a rare moment when Oliver ever portrays emotion that expresses sorrow or anger. The only time that most misconstrue him for being angry is when he is staring deep, serious thought.
Complexion: Oliver has a normal, medium complexion with warm undertones.
Build: After years of hauling fish, Oliver has grown strong, leaving his body well toned and muscular from the long days of hauling fish nets, diving to pick up underwater traps and manning the boat with little in the way of starch all the way out on the ocean.
Identifying Marks: A scar on his left arm from a close encounter with a shark.
Facial Features: He has a straight nose, and thin, soft, pink lips. Well maintained in spite of what many would consider messy professions, Oliver keeps a clean, ragged look by keeping his bronde hair short and stubble that he only shaves off on "special" occasions.
Scent: While there is little that can be done about his scent when upon his vessel, Oliver keeps two sets of clothes. Upon land Oliver ensures he is washed, that his clothes don't smell like fish by washing his clothes in flower scented waters and applying a gentle application perfume to his person and clothes. Whereas his sea clothes are less pleasantly kept and stowed away for when he doesn't plan to be back for a while.
Background: Born the son of a high ranking naval officers and a pastry chef, Oliver was raised for the earlier years of his life as an only child in a simple family cottage with his mum. Growing up he had a pleasant life in the kitchens and gardens with his mother. He learned how to sing, play music, cultivate herbs and make all sorts of different pies and breads while he listened to stories his mother would tell. It wasn't till his later years in life that his father eventually retired from the long trips away from home and he really got to know the man.
From that point on, Oliver was ushered into a life of baking and fishing, the young boy over the years became more and more involved with trade deals to do with his father's fishing company. Where together, the two made whole new stories of their own by helping out in the shipyards and hauling in nets filled with fish to supply to the local restaurants.
Favouring intimate relationships with people than having a plethora of friends, Oliver was well liked, but remained enraptured by the form, movement and workings of everything. This adoration eventually lead to his asking for parchment and led for his birthdays. Oliver finally started to draw. Opened up to a whole new world of colour and admiration opened up to the young man sought artisans to give him tips on his paintings, until he was taken as an apprentice for a dying old man. Encouraged to go out into the world to experience and see, the young man became well known in his village for helping out the elderly when they needed it and looking after the pets of his neighbours while he aspired to do art in the absence of distraction or going to sea. Doing as he always has, Oliver continues to juggle the chaos that some would consider his life by living from moment to moment.
Mannerisms: Naturally light hearted and willing to go wherever the tide takes him, Oliver has a quieter disposition. As an advocate of kindness, the fisherman does what he can for the people around him. While he has some habits such as comparing people to nature or objects which can often throw people off, walking away when he's bored or choosing not to respond to a conversation when there is little he has to add; Oliver tries his best to be warm to anybody he meets. More visual and tactile than he is wordy, he sometimes goes into his own world when admiring certain scenes that stop him from thinking for a split second before returning to reality.
Education: Given a simple education through the money that his father earned, Oliver knows how to read and write common. While he was never all that into history or linguistics, he found joy in participating in play, physical classes or anything to do with art.
Career: Primarily a fisherman with art on the side, much of Oliver's career is either spent behind a canvas, at sea or in the markets haggling for fish that he sells under the roof of his father's fishing company. Throughout life these two careers have been interchangeable for him, when the sea is too rough he paints from the corners of his cabin. When the waters are quiet and there are few fish, he will continue to paint or draw and while he's doing the hauling or selling the painting and drawing is set aside.
Religion: Oliver isn't that bothered about it. He respects people's choices, as they've got nothing to do with him and what he's doing.
Crimes: None
Deeds:None
Relations:
Father - Heardrig Hartwick:
A business man who spent many of his years going to and from sea with the Navy. A kind man with a terrifying appearance, Heardrig has seen his fair share of battles. Possibly one too many. He is known to many for being fair, hearty with his nose stuck into everybody's business.
Mother - Lorelai Hartwick:
A baker, a wife and a hearty house wife. Lorelai is a loud, warm and welcoming soul who is generally kind to anyone until they cross her or one of her own. As her only child, Oliver is her treasure and she has spent most of his life trying to do the best by him and in turn, Torim; the young boy she took in from the streets.
Friend/Brother - Torim
Both a friend and a brother to Oliver, Torim was a kid that Oliver found on the street who he took home to his mother and father and asked if they could stay with them. After some convincing from Oliver, they agreed and he was taken in. Although very different to Oliver, Torim is a happy man with a great deal of knowledge when it comes to cooking, tailoring, carpentry and fishing.
Enemies: N/A
Friends: Torim
Lovers: N/A
Personality
Cheerful to the point of very little return, Oliver always likes to see the bright sides and silver linings. A friend more than he is a fighter, the young fisherman will often either admit to his faults or let another individual deal with having to blame someone else or admit their own before getting into a fight. He'd rather be drinking, having a laugh, dancing, eating delicious foods or painting.
As passionate as he is cheerful, Oliver is very focused and loves the world. Wonderlust to capture moments and or alternatively live in them, he has a good attention to detail and loves expression. While he is friendly and tries his best to be present, there are times when Oliver gets taken away into his own head when he sees something he feels is remarkable. His mind will focus fully on the subject at hand and stare in its direction, either until somebody snaps him out of it, it disappears or he has finished admiring whatever he has set his eyes on.
One day Oliver hopes that he'll get to traverse the world to see new, beautiful landscapes outside of the city and experience the cultures like his father. Until that day comes, he wishes to paint and record all of the beauty of his city and help his father's company.
Hobbies: Art, Fishing, Swimming, Tending to Animals and Cooking
Fears: Spiders, They're nasty little buggers with eight legs and too many eyes. They bite too!

Name: Headrig Hartwick
Age 57
Race: Human
Relationship: Father & Fishing Teacher
Arcana Hydras
Stats: Story NPC
Appearance: A huge six foot, burly man with bright ocean blue eyes and a head of long unkempt silver hair that is tied back to keep it away from his face. Covered in scars, one reaching from just beneath his eye, almost reaching to his ear and another series of slashes down his arms and torso; Headrig can appear frightening to those who meet him.
General Personality Overview: In spite of his intimidating appearance, Heardrig is a gentle giant with a gentle hand. Either found at work or at the side of his beloved Lorelai, there is not a dull moment in his eyes. Whether it be laughing at the latest gossip among the lads of the shipyard, fishing or mending a broken boat; he's always got his nose stuck into something.
Eager to live in the moment, Heardrig very rarely brings up his past, retirement or time serving the navy. His focus is solely on what can be done right in front of him and has very little vision of what might be in the future. Albeit a touch reckless, Heardrig thinks on his feet and lives for excitement.
Background: Born from a family of middle classed sailors, Heardrig grew up in a simple home with his ma and pap. Being the middle of three other brothers and a sister, Heardrig learned quickly how to compete with the others when it came to dinner time. What he really wished for though, was a woman who would bring him a plate of food he could call his own with seconds on its way and a life of adventure. Bright eyed, unscarred and brimming with mirth, young Heardrig aspired to and achieved all of his childhood dreams. Starting with his beautiful wife, Lorelai and his enrollment in the Navy.
A lover at home and a sailor at sea, Heardrig has travelled far across Noar fighting pirates, delivering trade goods, seeing new lands and making friends in exotic places. Alas, as exciting as being out in the world had been, as Heardrig grew older he learned home was where the heart was. Retired from the navy by the age of fifty, Heardrig was happy stay home with his wife and child.
Like any seasoned explorer though, the trivialities of staying in one place bored him. He had to do something. Adamant to halt his internal madness, Heardrig came out of his retirement to create a shipyard dedicated to sailing and fishing.
Name: Torim
Age: 20
Race: Human
Relationship: Friend & Shipmate
Stats: Story NPC
Appearance: Taller than Oliver by a small margin, Torim stands at 6'2 with a bulky stature, pale skin, fair hair and deep dark brown eyes that are shaded by his pronounced, perpetually furrowed brow. Not the most austere person, Torim's complexion is very smooth, the ridge of his nose is very straight and pointed at the tip. He has stern, thin lips and a thick unkempt beard that runs down his neck.
General Personality Overview: As keen for cooking as Ma Hartwick, Torim often likes to experiment with the taste of fish to see what new recipes he can fish up to discuss when he's back on shore. More fond of the quiet life, away from prying crowds, Torim quite is happy out there on the waves with his brother, a small chuck of wood and a knife to carve with. He has a keen love of cooking, carpentry and sailing.
Background: In a strange city with nobody to speak of, Torim was the son of tailor who travelled from Kingdom to Kingdom in order to make coin enough for them to survive. Although he didn't have a mother to speak of after she died giving birth to him, Torim lived a happy life. He joined his father on his adventures across the sea and helped out here and there. Until that one fateful day in his teens where his father turned gravely ill. Killed by his affliction, Torim's father had little to leave the lad other than a small coin pouch for a couple of days food and shelter.
Days and nights went past, the money startd to run thin and the nights began to grow harder for young Torim. He was hungry, cold and wanted so badly to be warm. A few days after he had wished it, the gods had answered. Found by a young boy who went by the name of Oliver, Torim was welcomed from the streets into a warm home where Mr and Mrs Hartwick took him in, fed him and treated him like one of their own children. From that day on they were like family to him and he never left.
