Mixed Blood

“It is believed that the first mixed race individual was born in Human society. Though history has forgotten whether or not the mother was a slave or a free woman amongst the Human tribe she lived within, it is known that she was an Ecrede woman, and that the father of her son was Human.”Kien Torow - The First Historian

Legends
“When the power of fire was first discovered, some say by the arrival of Humans, a prophecy spread across the land of Noar in its flames. It told of a Mixed Blood who would one day rule the world, and all the creatures under its skies, with the power of the Titans to guide them.”Kien Torow - The First Historian

This prophecy led some of the other races to fear the idea of Mixed Bloods existing amongst their ranks. Over time, of course, that fear was forgotten, though there are many who still hold racism towards those not pure of blood.
Appearance
Mixed Blood individuals, in most cases, look like one of their parents. Though there have been cases of Mixed Blooded individuals taking on physical features of both parents. For example, an individual with a Wyvern father and an Ecrede mother, might inherit the horns of their father and the changing eye colour of their mother. The only case where this differs is with the N’jiin race. An individual will only inherit the glowing veins of the N’jiin parent if they inherited that parents racial ability.
Racial Ability
Though appearances are fluid, a Mixed Blood might look like one or both parents, but take the ability of the other. This means that even if a Mixed Blood inherits the physical features of both parents, they only gain one of their parents racial abilities. Under no circumstances has any Mixed Blood individual inherited the abilities of both parents. Even if mixed of blood, their racial ability is just as strong as one pure of race.
Philosophy
If you can’t beat them, join them. Most Mixed Blood individuals are born with a certain advantage, especially those raised by both parents, in that they come to understand more of the world than those in less accepting races. They come to understand the best of both worlds, that of their mother and father. Their upbringings are rich with information and stories, and in most cases, they are bilingual, mastering two languages where others only come to understand one. They are usually ambitious and resilient, but sometimes dangerous, especially those who feel they have something to prove.
Perception
The perception of Mixed Blood individuals is varied. While some races like the Ontari accept women and children of all creeds, others, such as the N’jiin, are less tolerant of outsiders. The Ecrede are highly protective of their language, traditions and culture, making it difficult for Mixed Bloods to ascend to any sort of power or positions of importance within their ranks. Humans are the most tolerant, known for their ability to blend, learn and adapt.
Culture
Being Mixed Blood usually means an individual is raised under the influence of two cultures, those of both parents. If one or both parents are also Mixed Blood, the culture usually reflects the area in which the individual is born. The dominant race of the area usually influences how a child is raised. In most instances, the Mixed Blood child is gifted a name more traditional of their father’s race, though if the mother is of higher birth within her culture, there have been exceptions. Most Mixed Blood individuals are bilingual, this means they speak both of their parents languages.
